I was just reading through the posts on dog conditioning and tred mills for dogs. I was wondering, did anyone get a tred mill and what was your experience with one. I am thinking of getting cody and Bindi a tredmill, they are very active, and even after 1 hour walk and playing in the yard for 1/2 hour Bindi is ready for more, I am not. We are thinking about getting a dog tredmill but would like to hear from those who have recently bought one and what they think. The old posts I read were from 05.
I hope this is posted in the correct area.
Thanks
Thanks Carol: I have looked up a few sights, but I was wondering if any of us here use treadmills and what kind and what they think of them. I am not familiar with the different models and would like some testimonials regarding treadmills others use.
Thanks,
Hope you had a great romp in the snow!!!

BRRRRRR....I am freezing. Ended up in 30+ mph winds which were not supposed to hit until morning.......sucks when your a mile and a half away from the car.......
I use a treadmill for my dogs when the weather is bad......just our treadmill. I introduced the dogs slowly and some took to it faster than others. I like it for wearing weatherbound dogs out....works great. Although I prefer to exercise them outdoors.

i have used a human electric treadmill before. i have one bitch who obsesses over it, and would run it, untethered for 7 miles, at 7 MPH with a 30% incline. that was great - cause i just had to sit on the couch and cheer her on. i would take her off 1/2 way through to empty out, and then i would snap a leash on her, and make her 'walk' on it to cool down, at 3mph for a few minutes before taking her outside to finish her cool down. however, some dogs do not like the noise, and if they don't run a straight line, there's nothing to hold them in place unless you make some pretty big alterations to your own mill!
i also have a 'colby mill' http://colbypitbull.com which i got used, and has worked for me for years. my strongest dog gets a good work out in about 10 minutes on it - as they run against their own weight.
we also have a grand carpet mill http://www.grandcarpetmill.com - which i am not as big of a fan of, although my boyfriend likes it better than the colby mill. this is also an incline work out, where they get a shorter, harder run.
what i want, and do not have yet, is a good slat mill - which is better for endurance training, as it's free spinning, and flat - so more equivalent to road work, and is obviously a more aerobic workout, which also builds longer, leaner muscles, than the incline mills.
