Okay, please don't laugh.....this is a sincere question and I would like a sincere answer. This is the first time to breed my male GSD (his first time also)and I think he fell in love!
We did all the right things (certification, temperament, research, etc.) so I'm not here to ask about that. The owner of the bitch went out of town so she was brought to our house. The bitch was here at our house for 7 days and they did their "thing" numerous times. While she was here, his attitude was awesome (as usual) but his appetite did decrease. Also, he would NOT, could NOT, be apart from her. This I understand. )
My question is about his behavior when her owner came and took her back home. He was hysterical when she left! I've never seen him like this.....frantic, whining, pacing, looking for her. About 3 hours after she left, he finally settled down and now I promise you, he's depressed. Won't eat. His behavior is depressed, he's sad.
Is this expected? When will he get back to his incredible, joy filled self? Did we leave them together too long?
LOL sounds like my male when my female is in heat and he's not allowed in the room with her. He barely eats anything for weeks. Whines and cries all day long. Sits by the bedroom door for hours on end.

..... slips notes under the door..... text-messages when Mike is asleep.....
He'll never be the same again! I've never known any male to get over his first time.
Women! Don't get involved with em, son. You'll never be the same again!
Poor fella (shaking my head, tsk, tsk, tsk)I hope he feels better. Try giving him a t-bone steak maybe that will help him find his appetite again. I've never known any man to turn down a really good cut of meat!
