I hadn't heard of this, scary! I've always been opposed to vaccinations, in my children also. I think they cause alot of MS in people also.
My vet won't allow my dog in the vet clinic unless he is vaccinated. It really irks me. I'm going to find a new vet.

I'm bumping this thread because of a current thread about a stray kitty that was found and taken to a vet because she was very ill. The vet vaccinated her, in her state, her weakened very ill state. Again, I'm so mad I could spit!!!!!!!
What is wrong with these vets??? Something needs to be done, I can't even see straight right now, I'm so ticked.
I'll repeat what I wrote in that other thread: DO NOT LET A VET VACCINATE A SICK ANIMAL!!!! YOU make the call, not the vet. Let the vet treat the illness, that's what he's there for.

JJ my new puppy has had one set of shots.
Reading this furum I have been not wanting to get another set.
But in 8 weeks to 8 months it say that puppys need 2 sets
And by law she has to get her rabies.
So the main question should I feel safe getting another set or no.
As far as the city knows phoenixs died when jewel dies so I dont need to get another set for her. But by the adpotion I have to get her registered and take the paper work back to them.

from what Ive read, it seem that most people agree that since we dont live in a perfect world the distemper, parvo and rabies vaccines are ok.
If the rescue requires more, I would talk to them (presenting them with a huge binder of combines info :wink: )and tell them why you think that it is not only uncessary but downright dangerous....
Just a suggestion. After the local humane society required me to have some foster puppies vaccinated with horrible consequneces, I found out about why they all got sick and died & I concluded that they didnt know enough for me to shut up and go along with what they say
not saying thats how the rescue is but you never know.
Thank you LB for opening my eyes to Vaccinosis. We have a GSD that has chronic seizures. He has wonderful bloodlines with no history of seizures. He was brought over from Germany by a well respected breeder and checked out perfectly healthy. He started having seizures when he was about a year old. We've taken him for blood tests, brain tests and they can find nothing wrong. They wanted to put him on Rx meds but we are treating him with a homeopathic remedy. After coming across your article I sent it to my husband. It's so upsetting that we didn't read this article earlier. We gave him his yearly booster shot a few weeks ago and he went from having a seizure once a month to 3 seizures in 3 days. Could we have prevented this? I'm so upset and angry that our dog has possibly suffered b/c of our ignorance. Thank you for passing along this information. None of our pets will ever be vaccinated again.
Do not beat yourself up, or be 100% certain about the cause of this trouble. If a dog is going to develop seizure disorder, this is just the age it comes on. It could be caused by an unlucky roll of the genetic dice, by vaccine sensitivity, by early head trauma, by viral exposure in-utero, it is just not understood.
I hope medication will help your dog to stabilize, and that you can find someone good to help you.
Do you, or have you ever had a tick problem? Erhlichiosis (sp?) is passed from brown dog ticks and can result in seizures. It is usually treated with tetracycline or doxycycline once diagnosed but if the vet didn't test for it, it wouldn't be detected. Also, nordic breed dogs and breeds like golden retrievers are more prone to seizures than other breeds. So don't just assume (Ass out of you and me) that vaccines caused it. As Betty said, too many reasons or non-reasons for seizures.
