He had so much fun - not sure about the water but loved running on the sand. However he also loved eating the sand. I didn't think he had actually eaten very much until I saw his poop. A couple of them were almost entirely sand - or at least seemed that way when I cleaned up the yard, black (it was a black sand beach) and crumbly like sand. My question is will the sand hurt him? Should I try to keep him from eating the sand, not that I encourage it but he likes to dig and tends to use his teeth to help dig. Not to mention he seems to enjoy biting the sand. The other think I've noticed is that when he falls down or cracks his head on things he just ignores it. He never seems to get hurt, is that normal? Usually he's racing around being a dork when he does stuff like that so he's pretty hyped up, maybe he just doesn't realise it's happened until it's over. But if he gets hurt shouldn't he notice it? Thanks in advance for helping out a puppy novice.

I'd probably keep him busy with something else. I think dogs tend not to show weakness (or being hurt or sick), and also that you're right about driviness and not feeling pain nearly as much.
