Following a (very) short trip to Calgary a week ago, Shalini and I were successful in our job applications to come and work in Canada!
If all goes to plan, we'll be starting the new jobs in the Fall, which should also speed up our Permanent Residency application
However, that doesn't really give us too long to sort out an export licence and also transportation for Teagan. We flew with Air Canada, and will most likely use them again, especially as people on here have positive opinions of them.
Does anyone have any experience of the shipping companies that arrange the international transportation of pets? Or any advice and tips of what to do?
We're going to another Emigrate show soon to see some companies, but I'd prefer some first-hand knowledge!
And if anyone knows of any good trainers in the Calgary area(OB, Schutz or Agility) I'd be glad to hear of them, eh?
Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought.
As for Training check out Rocky Mountain Ringers, it is a French Ring club based out of Cowtown. If Ring isn't your cup o' tea, I'm sure the Ringers will be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.geocities.com/rmrsa/
My experience with Air Canada is domestic only. They no longer allow dogs as checked baggage (on the same flight with you). Instead they must fly Air Canada Cargo. Within Canada I know many who have used this service, and were satisfied. I am unsure about international.
I know nothing about trainers in Calgary, but would ASSume there must be a couple of good ones.
Everyone in Calgary owns a "ski chalet" in my town (Fernie), as it is only 3 hrs away. No shortage of high paying jobs and disposible income in Calgary, Alberta!
Folks from the UK LOVE to take ski vacations here as well. Maybe we will see you here sometime!
