I am not certain we will certify because from what I have seen my team-mates do, it is quite the undertaking. The records that need to be kept, the chain of custody, procuring, handling and maintaining source material. The level of commitment required to train the dog thoroughly and correctly. And the reality of exactly what you are doing! It is beyond serious.
And after you get through the initial training stage, there is going to be maintaining those skills on a regular basis for as long as the dog is employed.
At minimum I agree that a SAR dog should be exposed and not adverse or at least the handler should know how the dog reacts to HR. And I totally second Carol's 'not for the faint of heart!'
