I would definately go with positive and calm, not harsh and hard. Let him see other dogs from a distance, keeping him engaged with you in obedience or tug, etc. If at all posible, borrow a neighbors relaxed dog to help. When he is relaxed at a long distance, come closer slowly. At some point you may be able to approach a dog run and let him sniff others through a fence, but only if he seems relaxed and interested. I never take my dogs to dog parks, they are dangerous. It does not sound to me that your dog is overly dominant, just having a normal reaction to the fighting dogs next door.
I think you should be able to get a second dog, especially if you get a young female and introduce them carefully. My very dog aggressive female readily accepted our male pup, adn they play together very well. She cannot be trusted with dogs outside our three, even my mother's dog.
Thanks guys! I'll figure it out. We have always worked out any problem we've had before. I just have to find a new way to comunicate with him. Show him this is not alowed and have him understand.
