I have been in contact with this company: http://www.bulknaturaloils.com about their 17 and 18 kg (roughly 5-5.2 gallon) pails of bulk natural fish/salmon oils.
I was wondering if anyone has done business with them in the past or sees anything wrong or amiss that I don't currently see? Their products are human grade, I am currenlty getting price lists for their omeg 3 fish oil, salmon oil, and wild salmon oil 18kg pails.
5.2 gallons is a bit much but I think fish oils have a decently long shelf life, don't they? At least a year? I don't know if anybody is nearby me but once I find the prices, if the price is worth buying, anybody nearby interested in sharing an order?
Also.. has anyone else bought salmon or fish oil in bulk, if so, from where?
Connie - thanks for the info. I would put it into smaller containers and freeze what I didn't need immediately/refridgerate what I did need. I meant they can be maintained with freezing or refridgeration, not just sitting out and open.. sorry! Should have mentioned that.
I get my salmon oil from http://www.alaskansalmonoil.com If you were wanting to compare prices or buy more locally. I paid $54/gallon, but that was through a yahoo group order http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/WAzzuOR_BARF/. The group orders in January and July and I know there are some people in southern OR who participate and organize transport down I-5.
I got price quotes back to say and thei wild alaskan salmon oil is $36.00/gallon but I don't know what shipping is at this point. If anyone is interested shoot them an e-mail from the website. I'm thinking shipping may be my breaking point or I would order from them.
Shannon I may go with your option if shipping from bulkoils is too much to handle.
I just wanted to pop in with an update. I really like this company, the representative I have been in contact with is extremely nice and helpful. Not only that but I got a package in the mail today. I'm thinking.. why is UPS here..? I didn't order anything...
Indeed I didn't order anything as Jedwards International/Bulk Natural Oils (www.bulknaturaloils.com) had mentioned that they had limited stock left of the Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil. I don't need a bulk amount yet so I let them know that I am not ready to buy immediately and I can wait until they get more stock in.
They sent me a 4oz sample overnighted for FREE and I didn't even request it. I also got a nutritional analysis of their W.A. Salmon Oil
For those intersted (though this is for the specific lot I got a sample of) I scanned it and can e-mail the information to you. It covers EPA, DHA, DPA, total omega 3s, acid value, peroxide value, anisidine value, totox, heavy metals - arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, and other things. They test all of their lots and send this information with orders.
You can e-mail (listed in profile) or send me a PM if you are interested in more about this company.
