I posted some time ago about my Rottie dealing with Mandibular Muscle Myositis. It seems that prednisone has helped greatly with the pain and tenderness, but the dog looks worse than ever.
My question is how long should the dog stay on the prednisone?
I have read "Corticosteroids can cause muscle wastage and this may give the impression that the animal is getting worse, even though the disease is well controlled." With that said, at what point is the dog usually weaned off of the prednisone?
At present, although the dog does not exhibit any pain or tenderness, he looks worse than ever with the bones in the skull as well as the spine being very pronounced.
I would like to have an idea on this before we go back to the vet for the re-check
Thank you
