Just an update.
The Hoover was laid to rest this weekend.
Gus stood guard for half a day to make sure it wouldn't leave the garage.
We now have a new policy...no dog in the house while vacuuming...aside from the expense his high pitched barking drives my nuts.
LOL

Hahahah thanks for the update, I was wondering what you decided to do. I think that is a fine solution.
Leute mögen Hunde, aber Leute LIEBEN ausgebildete Hunde!
Must be a German Shepherd thing, I was getting the belt changed on my vacuum the other day and ended up sharing my war stories of GSD v. Vacuum with the repair guy..... I think it may need to be added to the breed standard from what he was telling me.
My guy did like vacuum too. But now he is used to it (we are doing it 2-3 times a week, so it is not new to him any more), but have you tried a showel or a rake in the backyard or on the lawn - we now have switched to this one. I am just wondering how long it will take him to leave through this, especially that the season for rake is coming. May be that's what we should do - switch from one object of affection to another and let them get used to it (just my thoughts).
Funny you should mention that.
I was cleaning the backyard with the rake and a broom. He was chasing both. When I put the broom down to rake, he would carry the broom around and vise versa.
Anything that moves he wants.
I informed my trainer of his behavior and she is reviewing some Leerburg tapes to try and come up with a good positive way to distract him while I do these things.

Fortunately for me I have tile floors and rarely have to bring the vaccuum out. My broom on the other hand is looking a bit frayed these days though, LOL! My boy pounces on it and holds on for dear life with his paws and teeth...he then has to be pried off and blocked out of whatever room I am trying to sweep.
