The first word is the reward, the second word is the punishment.
A positive award would be a use of a toy/food a positive punishment would be the use of a correction.
A negative award would be just verbal praise? Or nothing?

Ok this is what I seem to remember from my Animal behavior/training classes. Its been a while so I could be wrong but here goes-
negative means withholding or taking away, positive means adding something...which can be confusing because of the tendency to attach moral or emotional feelings to the words, negative=bad, positive=good.
So many zero correction people would use positive/negative
positive/positive would be rewarding for compliance and correcting verbally or with a prong etc for non compliance.
A negative reward is used in with avoidance training, you use an unpleasant stimulus like a constant buzz from the e-collar or pinching the toes and stopping the aversive stimulus only when they do the desired behavior
A negative punishment in my understanding is the withholding of the reward, as in clicker training when if they dont follow the command you simply withhold the click/treat.
