My 2 yeaer old american bull dog Gypsy has been leaking urine....much like a slow drip throughout the day & evening. Our vet gave us PPA or Proin. I am trying to do some research & make sure there are not any major or harmful side effects. It does help but I want to make sure we are not harming or putting her health at risk! I worry about this!! Any advise or experience is welcomed! Thank you kindly!
I've read that spaying (is she spayed?) can cause incontinence later in life. My guess would be 2 years old is a little early for that to show up, but not sure. An older GSD I had had incontinence at the age of 8 and hormone therapy stopped it almost immediately.

2 years seems a little early. I recall females being older when they have this kind of problem.
From what I know of Proin it is considered safe and the vets I worked with preferred it because it doesn't have serious side effects. There was one medication that was commonly prescribed, pre-Proin, that had some fairly serious side effects.
I don't remember hearing of any complications and most of our clients had been on it for a good amount of time. Owners seemed very satisfied with the results.

Thank you. Yes Gypsy is spayed & yes it is usually w/older dogs. Supposedly there is a small percentage of females who will present this at an early age after being spayed. Our vet is great & I believe in her....I just wanted to see if anyone had good/bad/indifferent thoughts regarding Proin.
