Looking for info in dog cancer. Specificially rankings of cysts and meanings. I know in humans the rank is 1-4 but in dogs I have been told it is 1-3.
I have been asked about a 15 month AB that recently had a cyst removed. The cyst ranked a 2. I was told rank 1 means it is nothing to worry about, and rank 3 is serious. My first inclination is to assume the rank of 2 is extremely wide while one and three are relatively narrow. What I am not sure of, is if a rank of two is cancer or something they may expect to be cancer.
The owner was scared by the discovery of mast cells in the cyst. My understanding of the mast cell in general is that you would expect to find mast cells in a cyst.
I have a general knowledge of cancer and body functions, but I am not an expert. Sometimes giving advice based on knowing part of something can be dangerous. At the same time I tend not be trusting of everything doctors say. I am looking for people have experience asking the right questions to help feed some basic advice. Reputable sites discussing this topic would be greatly appreciated.
