I have the Pack Structure, Basic Dog Obedience and Remote Collar training videos and I love them all. Something has come up however not covered in any of those videos.
What's the significance of a dog offering her bone to you? I let Molly have a cow femur (really keeps her busy). She's developed a habit now of bringing it to me. If I don't take it she drops it on my feet (that hurts ). Just wondering what that means.
She showed up at our house in January. Probably a puppy that got too old to be cute anymore. Best guess at her age then was around four months old. She seems to be choc lab and the vet said maybe some pit bull.
She doesn't have many dominance issues. Actually when she first showed up she did the submissive peeing thing every time I petted her. That stopped after the first week. She's a soft and submissive dog. The only thing she will do is defend her food bowl from the cats (we have 3). Even then she will just warn them off. When one became too inquisitive she rolled it but didn't bite. Since that he leaves her food alone.
She growled at me once when she was eating and I was taking her collar off but I just went about the collar and told her I wasn't going to mess with her food. No problems at all around the food bowl since. Cats maintain their distance and she lets me stand nearby and pet her. If I ever wanted her to not eat something she's got a good "Drop it" command (it even works with cat poo).
She's doing great in basic obedience and that was before Ed's video. She will do sit, down, stay (while I walk around the yard), drop it (spit it out), Let go (don't pull on the toy) and is excellent on a leash.
I don't know what the significance of a dog offering its bone to its owner is... I had a dog that would offer me a bone every day when I came home from work. My theory is the dog is offering you a gift. Very nice!
