as of late, sonny has been taking to headbutting me. Whether or not he is tethered to me, if i walk anywhere, he rams himself into my side/back as i am walking. He also will jump and grab my shirt and hang there.
plus, if i move my hands/arms to do anything when he is near me, he grabs my arm and holds on. Not very hard, but hard enough.
so naturally, when he is headbutting, and i try to correct it, or put my hand out to say stop, he grabs it.
I have tried always keeping a toy in my pocket, and just shoving that in his mouth, but he would much rather go for the arm.
on walks, he doesn't do this, just in the house. I know he wants to play, but i am not a toy.
Mallory, my bullmastiff mix likes to do the arm/hand grabbing thing too.
It's fairly easy to control if I have the leash on her inside the house; nearly impossible to control without the leash. Collar grabbing is a sure fire way for me to escalate the situation...(I guess she figures that turnabout is fair play: you grab my collar...I grab your arm ... )
I redirect w/ the leash (no correction per se) and then give her something more appropriate than my arm to chew/play with. The calmer I stay, the more likely she is to see that it's not a fun game and she'll redirect to the toy quicker.
