I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on "all natural" kibble. Right now I am currently feeding Solid Gold Wolf Cub Large Breed Puppy, and Cally's allergies (from Eukenuba) seem to be going away. Does anyone have experience with this company (Solid Gold) or this kibble (Wolf Cub)? I have other "holistic" options from the store down here (California Natural, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul, Canidae, and Innova) and wanted to know if anyone has good/bad experiences with these. Unfortunately I am not capable of providing an all natural raw diet yet and these are my only options. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I think it's a pretty decent kibble but most of the Solid Gold foods have a bit more grain than I'd like to see in a good kibble.
I've used California Naturals, Innova and Canidae and have been very happy with the results of all. I've heard good things about Chicken Soup food, and have used their cat food with great results.
If I were you, I'd research a little on the company and the people who own it. Their legal history is eyebrow raising to say the least.
And the food is very grain heavy. Given what you pay for a bag of their food, I would much rather just get a food that actually IS better, and has a better ingredient list - for the same price. That is, of course, if raw wasn't an option.
When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.
Sean, I evolved from Nutro large puppy, to Canidae when I discovered Leerburg, to alternating meals of raw and EVO, or Innova or Wellness Core. I haven't tried Orijen yet, but that's next on my list.
If you can't do raw, then the less grains the better. You will find that you feed less, stools are smaller and your pup will look great.
Regardless of what you feed, add salmon oil and vitamin 'e' to your pup's diet.
I take great stock in what Connie Sutherland says, and she maintains that if you can't feed a raw diet, you should still maintain high quality variety in what you feed your dog.
(and as usual I missed answering the question. I personally have had no experience w/ Solid Gold...)
