Because Schutzhund is a different sport. Same reason that OB in Ringsports are different too.
You will probably lose points if you do the exercise incorrectly. Doing an exercise according to how another sport wants you to do it, opposed to the sport you are competing in, is generally considered "doing it incorrectly."

How come in schutzhund they do U-turns differently than UKC and AKC obedience trials? ... If I do a schutzhund U-turn at a UKC trial, will my dog loose points?
Do you mean "Why can't I use the rules from one sport in a different sport?"
UKC or AKC doesn't specify how U-turns are supposed to be done. The rules simply state that all U-turns are to the right. But I have never seen a U-turn in obedience done by any handler like they do in schutzhund. I don't want to confuse my dog by doing both, unless of course I come up with a subtle way to cue him in on each type.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
FWIW: Aren't schutzhund U-turns always done to the left? They are very different than the AKC turns but if you teach the dog the difference (and I think the dog would naturally see them very differently since the dog heels on the left in both sports) I don't think there would be major issues.
I've never trained a left U-turn or competed in either venue.
Thanks for the clarification...I though the difference was that the dog goes around the handler in schutzhund, didn't realize they were to the left. Now it makes more sense kind of. So in schutzhund as long as the handler makes a left about turn it doesn't matter other than that, the dog can go around or back up and stay at heel that way right?
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
