I purchased a tub of probiotic powder about 2 years ago. For various reasons, it didn't all get used and I have a large portion left. It's been in the original container, inside, and kept cool. It smells good and looks good. Do probiotics have a shelf life? Should I toss it and repurchase a fresh tub? I've emailed the retailer twice in the past 2 weeks to get their opinion and haven't received a response.

I have 2 different kinds of probios...one has an expiration date and one does not.
After 2 years, and especially since it was opened, I'd toss it. It may not hurt your dog but it is probably not as potent as it once was, which would kind of defeat the purpose of using it in the first place.
Probiotics are living organisms. After 2 years I would bet most, if not all of the bacteria has died off and its likely worthless now. The longevity of a product is also often affected by how it is stored.
