It's like 4 hole-y scars side by side on the bottom side of her neck. Brown, embedded in her skin. They do not appear to be infected.
For her to still have the dignity and grace and willingness to be good after what appears to me to be abuse with electronics--or simply leaving the collar on for too long. But in this case, I'd say handler inexperience. ?!!
I called the previous owner and asked him if he had an electronic collar. (he had not mentioned this at all to me when I met him) He said yes. I asked him if he would sell it to me since he no longer has the dog. He said he paid too much for it to just sell it. So I said, since you are going to keep it, I sure hope you learn how the hell to use it IF you use it again. Not to be harsh, but that what happened to this girl is NOT proper use of anything electronic.
Maybe I'm all wrong and the guy just wasn't rotating his collar. ??? DOUbtful, but who cares. She's in good hands now.

Or he's a sadistic s.o.b. that should never own a dog again...
Glad you rescued her when you did.
And how did it go w/ the lady that was going to take her hiking?

Our hospital saw a GSD with 2 fairly deep holes in the neck. Turns out the dog was wearing an invisible fence collar with extra long prongs and the owner only ever removed the collar once a week. He had no idea he had to rotate the collar and was pretty horrified by what he had done to his dog.
The GSD you saw had 2 holes. This dog has 4. Not to mention, I was informed this dog was "raised with a heavy hand".
Whatever. He is just lucky it's me who has her. Some PETA group would prolly have him charged with animal abuse.
Like I said before. It's one thing to know this crap happens, another entirely to be directly involved. She is doing awesome here and we will find her the perfect placement.
