We hunted around for it; she had gone (explosively!) in the walk-in shower, behind the closed curtain! It was completely contained and just needed to be rinsed down! We were so amazed by her, that she figured out the absolute best place in the apt to go. Another time she went on the large marble base of a floor lamp (the bathroom door was shut that day.) The whole place was carpeted, and she was used to going on grassy areas, and would hold it the two short times she was boarded someplace that had a concrete run.
Oh, they're just so amazing, aren't they? That's a great example. Mine did a similar thing once when she had the same explosive deal going on...not in the shower, but in the tiled bathroom.
My young dog loves to sniff where the other dogs have "gone" in the back yard, more than any other dog. He will wait at the bathroom door for me and then when I come out, he goes in and sniffs the toilet lid.
I remember reading a bulldog's profile on Dogster. The owner had listed as one of the dog's "cool tricks" that if they left the dog at home too long and he had to go, he would always go in the shower. I thought to myself, "there's a dog whose owner pees in the shower"! LOL!
Unfortunately, on the occasions where my dogs need to vomit or have diarrhea, they always seek out a rug or bed to do it on. My home is mostly hardwood and linoleum, so they will use the carpeted stairs, the rug by the door, and even (once) a dog bed.
Someone on here posted a link to SynAlia dog training. I was instantly attracted to it because it seems to be a method for communicating with your animal (not just training it). Unfortunately I am a person who needs to see techniques in action and be shown how to do something, in order to pick it up well. So I've decided to start small with clicker training (shaping) and see if I can't learn that first.
Hopefully I can figure out a system to better communicate with my dogs! I always wonder what they are thinking. It is SO wonderful when you see your dog figure out how to do something on his own, too.

Bummer! Mine tends to vomit on rugs, too (the whole house is tile so she has to seek out the one by the back door<g>.
I'm looking into SATS too. Seems worth checking out and using as much of it as fits...
