Crosman 760. Consistently fatal to the barnyard pigeons, sparrows, starlings and other winged vermin. Some four-footed vermin too.
The Daisy it replaced was pretty random in its targeting.
We had one cat that got pretty fat and lazy from the pigeon harvest. He would watch us if we left the house. If we had a BB gun, he fell right in at heel. He retrieved about as well as a dog. However, he was smart enough to know that if we took the 410 shotgun out, there wouldn't be any free lunch that day.
BTW, they have made the home where they shot "A Christmas Story" into a museum of sorts. It's in the Tremont area of Cleveland. They even sell leg lamps there. Tremont is an old working-class neighborhood just up the hill from the steel mills. Parts are becoming a bit trendy. But for the most part the neighborhood looks just as grim as it did in the movie.
I don't know about his eye dominance but he is stronly left handed and has been since he started picking things up. His dad and I are both lefties as well. But I do odd things like frisbee and horshoes right handed.
He won't be shooting animals anytime soon, just targets.
He is too soft hearted when it comes to anything furry or feathered.
Even though he says he wants to go hunting, I know that first dead critter would be a cause for tears and nightmares.
