We had to board Yote last weekend at the vet and in order to do so he had to have the intranasal bordatella vaccine and his rabies shot. They also did a Da2pp even though I didnt approve it
They did however give thuja after each shot.
But now he is being weird, he was incredibly tired after we picked him up but I assumed that was because he had been at the kennel.
But then I noticed he seems famished even though he ate well over the weekend according to them. He is not a famished sort of dog, usually he is a nibbler.
Last night around dinner time he started sneezing and then by the time we went to bed he had had a couple of wheezy honking type of coughing fits.
At first I thought he was choking on something or had something stuck in his throat but now it really seems to be more of a respitory type thing along with the sneezing and a tiny bit of clear runny nasal drip.
He felt a little warm last night but we took his temp and he has no fever at all.
He is eating better than normal and did play some this morning with Loki in the backyard so he doesn't seem really ill, just the occasional cough.
His breathing is fine and not labored at all
We skipped his walk today and took his collar off so I dont irritate his throat anymore.
Does sound like Kennel Cough or could this be a side effect of the vaccines?...I'm tempted to dose again with thuja and maybe some homeopathic cold remedy stuff that I have.
I just got off the phone with the vet and she confirmed that it is likely a milder case of kennel cough due to receiving the vaccine.
At least they admitted it, at first the receptionist told me it was likely allergies...in a dog who had never shown a sign of allergies and was recently vaccinated, I called her on that one pretty quick and she put the vet right on the phone!!!
So does this count as a vaccine reaction that I can use to get out of future bordatella vaccines???
