Has anyone tried entering a dutch shepherd in AKC events using an ILP form as a "brindle Malinois" ? We would like to start competing in Agility and Rally as well as get her Canine Good citizenship. I know there are other venues besides AKC such as DOCNA, USDAA etc, but the training club we belong to favors AKC events because most of them run GSD. (i'm trying to convert them).
I think it is going to be hard to do it at this time. A couple years all hell broke loose when a registered "North American Shepherd" (mini aussie registry) was ILP'd as an aussie and won the Agility Invitational 12 inch division. After that they really tamped down on ILPs. Wish they would allow ILPs on mutts in the AKC - the more competition the merrier as far as I am concerned but doubt that will happen anytime soon.
Thanks everyone. She is already spayed, as we are not breeders. (I leave that to the guys that know what there doing.) I know UKC is an option, but there is nothing locally for us and we are definitly at the beginner level. Our dog is much better than we are.
I have a dutch and I was told I could not ILP her because of her color, no matter what I called her. Let us know if you send them and what Akc says. Good luck
