Connor is now 13months old, we've had him for just over 5 weeks.
He's steadily putting on some weight, but according to the growth chart on another thread he's rather small - 38kg at last weigh-in - and the chart says he should be around 50kg by now.
I know all dogs are different, and his food is MUCH improved compared to what he was on. No, its not RMB (I wish we had time) but the best 'complete' we can realistically get.
He's on the puppy/junior version, and we've been told to keep him on this till he's 15-18 months before going to adult.
He's getting much more exercise now and seems to be growing, but I'm just wondering if he's on the right stuff?
I would'nt worry about it Rob. Thats around 84lbs and I think thats plenty for a 13mo old. I would doubt Andy weighed that much at 13mos. At around 2 1/2 to 3yrs he started filling out and got to 104 to 107 lbs. Now I keep him around 95 to 100 max.
interesting. my boy is about 95lbs and is going on to 15 months. he does appear to be a little on the light side. when I took him to some local rottie owners who also activly breed and show, they reccomend I get him a little more weight before showing. I was told raw hamburger is good to add to his kibble.
Clarify by spelling every little thing out. Some people can be extreme when drawing their own conclusions.
They always want em bigger for showing Collin. Too many judges are not Rottweiler fans and just pick them by the pound so the larger dog will win over a smaller better dog. I would just ignore the advice. Let him grow at his pace, don't try to put weight on him.
Rottweiler finish growing at about 3 years old, then you can start feeding an execsicing appropriately to bulk him up. It’s good to consider the size and bone structure to put the right weigh on him/her. Saying not safe to put 60 kilos on medium size Rott.
