The only reason I am not switching full on to raw now is limited freezer space (we do have a chest that is currently full) and getting the supply of food. The meat warehouse is about 2 miles from my home, but I don't have a car. I have no problem getting there by bus, but bringing home a large quantity of meat is a pain (it would be about $50 for 80 lbs, roughly a month supply).
I can get chicken leg quarters rather cheap about 63 cents /lb. Necks/backs and organ meat I went to an organic butcher just before closing and haggle prices at the end of the week. I was feeding raw before but stopped because it was getting hard to get the stuff I needed and I had the kibble as backup.
Jenni - I think your suggestion is great, I will start with doing one kibble meal for morning and raw for dinner. I liked using Orijen previously, but the internet was the only place I could get it. It's weird no one sells Orijen in our city, it's all in the burbs. I will check out the Merrick I was using before and compare it to the Chicken Soup to see which I want to switch to if I even switch at all. Thank you.
