Have any of you read or heard about the American Bulldog that was stabbed to death by a man who was trying to protect an elderly woman from the dog. Just a little venting... Because this is my favorite breed of dog. It's just the story doesn't seem to add up. When I think about an American Bulldog attacking someone, it's hard to see how anyone could walk away without some serious damage. It sounds more like the dog was either trying to get to the small dog, or was just playing rough. At the same time I can understand how it would look to the average person, this big 90lb. large mouthed dog running up on you jumping and what not. So I'm really not placing any blame on them. It just sucks because there is already this awful image and someone allowing their 90lb. Ambull to get loose... It gets at me.

It's very sad that this dog met it's end that way. Being stabbed is a terrible way to go. I agree with the decision though. What a terrible thing this owner put everyone involved through.
This dog was out of control per the stories of both people and if it were my 77 year old grandmother and I couldn't get control of that dog short of killing it. It would very simply be a dead dog.
It is unfortunate because media bias and poor reporting will often cause the story to seem confusing and that it doesn't add up. I wish I knew more about it. If there is anyone from the Omaha area, maybe they can shed some light on it since Council Bluffs, IA is right next door?
IMO a 90 lb Am BD...loose, well I can see why folks reacted as they did. It amazes me however that this breed of dog, a breed that will challange and "catch" a several 100 lb boar, did not even put a mark on the good samaritan and I can't find anywhere in the article where he savaged the woman or her dog. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The dog died of the owners irresponsibility.....I feel for the dog and am glad the humans went unscathed (although I think that was a very fishy "attack")
That is a sad story. I love bully breeds and have to Leavitt Bulldogs, so I hate seeing irresponsible owners bringing more negative press to these great breeds.
It is always the bad stories that make the news too. Check out this link because this is a great story with a happy ending. I live in Sarasota, FL very close to where this happened and it didn't even make the paper!
