That is such good advice! And after being in this situation, I learned that it is very expensive to feed any of the alternate meats that a dog may not have had before. It really makes you appreciate chicken, especially those of us that live in urban cities where you can't readily get things like venison, rabbit, etc. So as nice as it seems to give your dogs a nice big assortment of proteins, you really should save s couple of them that you can readily get your hands on in case your dog develops an allergy to something he eats all the time. The derma vet said she sees that happen every now and then.
Thank you for all of you who offered up rabbit sources! So far he's doing ok on the kangaroo kibble (can't wait to get him off kibble and back on his raw!) I couldn't afford the rabbit - it would have cost me about $150 a month and that didn't include shipping! So far, after almost 2 weeks on the kangaroo, his itching is no better. I'm betting it's not food at all since he tested allergic to 45 of the 75 skin allergen tests they did!
Most any Asian supermarket will carry it. So, if you are near a city that has a "China Town" - look there.
How do I know? My wife is Chinese and we shop in Philadelphia quite often for supplies that she can not find at our local super market. She's picked up rabbit for US to eat often from there and it was quite inexpensive.
