Oh my word! He is gorgeous! Thank you! I am envious. You have a great time ahead of you with that pup.
He looks attentive, sure, ready to go and yet ready to chill.
I wish you much success with the pup. Keep posting of your progress and mistakes, please. I am going to train my "senior" beagle to track or scent box, so I am interested in mistakes, progress, technique, etc. The only experience I have had is coon hunting, so this is new for me.
Again, congratulations on your Lacy.
(Did I mention he is gorgeous?)
Thanks guys! He is a MESS-- almost too smart for his own good, if you know what I mean! Somehow last night I forgot to put him outside. Now I have 3 Shih Tzu's and Ranger. One Shih Tzu (because she's 11) sleeps with me. Ranger & the other two are in the yard. HOW I completely missed him asleep somewhere is beyond me!
Anyway, this AM I get up & he's on the COUCH, looking contrite & wagging his tail!! Luckily, except for a couple of 'accidents' on the tile nothing was destroyed. Except he took one of my slippers to 'bed' with him--LOL!!
He is VERY people friendly. Never sees a stranger. However he does have some DA tendencies. I have him in a puppy class to help with that. The trainer is amazed at how quickly he learns. She uses him for her 'demo' dog in the class.
Like I said, we are just running 'hot dog' trails so far. 2 days ago he ran a 20-yard track in about 3 minutes. He missed some of the 'treats' but found the 'end prize' just fine. That was with me about 20' behind him. Monday I'm getting together with a couple of guys close to me that do blood trailing & we're going to work with our dogs. I'm excited!
