LOL... could this be the record for longest thread hijack? lol.
Jennifer - How is your friend's dog doing? Is he going to try and exercise it more? How does it behave when left loose?
OK.... I've hijacked the hijack... you may all continue with your hijack... hehhehe
Heh.
Oh, he's not my friend - he just posted asking for help on a tri board.
Well, after the 'it's separation anxiety' posts appeared, there was nothing, then I posted that I disagreed with diagnosing the dog with a medical condition when it wasn't being cared for appropriately physically or mentally (while acknowledging that I was sure he loved his dogs) and that the owner stepping up could make a huge difference in the dog's life. Then....silence. Until yesterday when someone elese posted that he initially thought the owner's description of the dog's exercise was a joke but that he realized it wasn't, and told him he picked the wrong breed. The owner's posted on the board but hasn't posted to that thread since the posts more pointing at him as the problem. :rolls eyes:
So unfortunately, I'm not sure much is really going to improve in terms of the dog. Though I have a bad feeling it will end up medicated

Ok Jennifer, back to your topic...you are absolutly correct in your analysis. Someone once told me that he leaves his dog in a cage for 12 to 14 hours a day, 6 days a week because he has to work. He lived by himself. I had to wonder how much time he had for this dog on the 7th day. He justified doing this because if people did not adopt dogs, even if they had no time for them, they would be killed at the pond.
I was horrified. I told him...what about your dogs quality of life? At least invest in a run for that poor dog! Dogs need excerise, training and love to be happy...if someone doesn't have the time for a dog, a gold fish is a good option.
