i have a 16 weeks old pup who has just started really teething, i can tell a change in his demeanor some, but today, when i took him to petco, he seemed unsure of the slick floor, and barked at a couple of dogs while we were there, he was still unsure of the floor a little till we left. i have never had a problem with this at all, in fact i socialized him and exposed him to different environments (like raising a working puppy video, and 8 weeks to 8 months suggests) very very frequently. has anyone else had problems with dogs being more nervy than usually when they are starting to teeth heavily?
At 16wks old, pups are going through alot of phases of learning and mental growth. Teething is stressful and uncomfortable for him also. A noisy plastic bag may mean nothing to him one day but the next day, it's the scariest thing he's ever seen. This is all normal behavior for this age. Just try to make sure his experiences are positive, praise him when he's good and when he is nervy and paranoid don't try to calm or comfort him- it will only make it worse and reinforce his thought that he has something to be scared of. Sometimes ignoring his antics and moving on something else is the best way to make him forget it. It should pass within another month.

I agree with Alison, but it could have been he was overwhelmed but the floors, different noises, or the smell of all the other dogs. Travis watch out over the next couple of weeks for your pups teeth you don't want him hurting his mouth. Keep a close watch on what he's doing.
thanks, he has been several times with me before, and he has never had any problem with people, dogs, slick floors, loud noises or weird smells before. even at the park with other dogs running by him, and trying to get close to him he was fine. then tonight- boom, all of a sudden he acted like he had never seen any of it before. haha im sure he is just going through a stage of stress. he did lose all four front top teeth 2 days ago and the others were first visible today. should i attempt to take him out around different things still using food to reward, or should i just keep him quiet for awhile while he cuts his new teeth and seems ready for it?
Take it easy for a couple of weeks work on bonding.Work his prey drive but don't let him tug. Talk to people at the SCH club re-watch 8weeks to 8months sometimes you'll pick something you miss the first time. Have you taken him back to the SCH club since the last time we talked.
he sees various people from different clubs about 3 times a week, i am also working other dogs of theirs and i am in the process of learning to be a decoy.
