Wow. I haven't been around for a while, have I? Sorry everyone!
Anyway. My question. We're going away for a week in a couple of days, and are taking our Darwin to a boarding kennel. There aren't very many around, and this one is the best known, and also comes with personal recommendations from friends. But still we're nervous about it. Is there anything we should be doing to prepare Darwin for the separation anxiety? Any way to help him deal with this experience? In the year since we adopted him, he has become very homey; lying with us in front of the fireplace or television, playing with the children or seeking out their attention. So I'm concerned that he's not going to understand why we've suddenly disappeared.
Does anyone have any advice?
I always send a towel, old t-shirt or small blanket that I have slept with for several days ahead of time.
I don't know if it really helps but it makes me feel better!
