But here it is: I taught Kasey the hand touch today - took all of 5 minutes. But I'm wondering if it's not such a good thing if, instead of just tapping my hand with his nose, he does a quick little lick. I couldn't get his tongue to stay in his mouth because my hand smells and tastes like the treat (with lots of slobber), and he's a chow hound, so he licks it.
I tried not rewarding him when he licked, and waited for him to just touch with his nose, but he got really frustrated and didn't understand what I wanted at all and started jumping on me - which he NEVER does at all!
I don't think it really matters. Unless you hate it, I would just let him keep licking you.
Also, maybe you could try moving your hand up (once he's a bit more advanced,) so he has to jump for it. He might not have time to lick you then. :smirk:
