MY G.S.D IS A NATURAL RETRIEVER AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TRAIN THE RETRIEVE WITH FEW PROBLEMS. THE EXERCISE IS PERFECT APART FROM THE FINISH. FROM THE PRESENT, THE FINISH ALWAYS ENDS UP WITH THE DOG OVER SHOOTING AND SITTING AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE TRYING TO LOOK FOR THE DUMBELL. HIS FINISH IS FINE IN OBEDIANCE, BUT THE DISTRACTION OF THE DUMBELL IS CAUSING PROBLEMS.I HAVE TRIED HIDING THE DUM BELL, BUT HE KNOWS IT IS THERE. ANY IDEAS PLEASE.
I have seen a wall used to keep the dog straight but I use the old fashion way. My hand. The trick is speed. It's one fluid motion. It's not crooked sit then straighten out. Before the dog’s butt hits the ground you must correct his position.
Welcome to the board. Just a small point...it's much easier to read posts when they are not in caps. No big deal, just wanted to let you know. Once again, welcome to the board and enjoy!
