I have been following this thread, and just wanted to say that when I switched to raw I had great results, except for one of my labs, he had the diarrea. After fecal exams, doing the pumpkin, rice etc. I put him on kibble in the morning (lamb and rice) and chicken in the evening, it cleared right up. I took the kibble away and it started again, went back to the kibble and raw and all was ok again. So I just do both with him.
I am not sure why, all the rest of my dogs are on raw and do great.

I am very glad this works out for you and your dog, Claire.
I do want to say, though, that it's an anomaly, and not something that I would ever recommend, especially to anyone whose dog was already having gut problems.
I totally agree with Connie. I should have added that on my comment. I also should say this guy was on kibble for several years before I switched to raw. So that might have had something to do with it.

And, for Vanessa, I don't want you to miss the good info in amongst our playing
When you start the raw switch again, remove the skin and visible fat from the chicken backs, AND feed smaller meals. (the fat/meal size wager isn't really an either/or thing in practical application--do both!)
And I'm serious about the pumpkin. A dose of it fixes poops reliably, in my experience. It's not a cure-all. If diarrhea or constipation persists more than a poop or two, you need to find the underlying problem. But for the occasional "issue" it's my go-to.
