Our 8 yr old dog didn't have problems with flea bites until he was 8! Then it got bad.
I guess developing an allergy at 9.5 isn't out of the question then. I keep thinking it is something new to his environment but maybe not. This is the first time he has ever had a hot spot. Prior to this, before I switched to a raw diet the closest he got to a skin issue was waxy ears. So it really has taken me by surprise.
My issue with the flea/tick preventative is that his immune system is so out of wack (4 hotspots in 3 days)not to mention the onslaught of medication;I fear that the preventative may trigger a full blown autoimmune break down but then I could be paranoid
The information is appreciated and if the picture in your signature is Kasey; he is quite beautiful and looks happy which is very encouraging since poor Thor was looking pretty glum but I must admit he has perked up quite a bit since finding some relief from the itch. Thank you!
