I foolishly left the dog food bag in an area where he could get it. When i left the house he ripped into it and presumably ate some of it... how much I don't know. He has pretty high food drive so i would image alot.
then... and I have to believe that this is not a coincidence... he poo'd and pee'd in the hall way. An area where he lays down often and we sometimes train in. I've had urination issues (in the past long ago) when my friend moved in and his scent was new to my dog but the defecating? never ever.
Is it possible for a dog to over eat and then go poo? and if a dog does that, could it trigger him to then go pee?
I wasn't the first one home but my roommate told me when he came home my dog wasn't at the door and he thought something was odd. My dog is 100% always at the door right when someone comes home. My roommate said my dog was in his crate and that he "looked uncomfortable". whatever that means.
correction from above. when my roommate came home my dog wasn't in his crate. he was in another location. so when he got home he noticed that was odd and then he could smell the dog poo and when he saw it he yelled at the dog. then my dog started to growl. that is a whole other issue though.
My roommate said my dog was in his crate and that he "looked uncomfortable". whatever that means.
It means the dog WAY overate and gave himself a big bellyache! If you know for a fact that your food driven dog got into the feed bag, then he probably ate a LOT of what was in there.

I would think it quite odd, and cause for concern, if a dog DIDN'T have to make frequent and/or large, messy defecations after such a serious gorging. And if no one was home to let him out, he had no choice but to use your hallway.
Keep an eye on the poor guy and make sure he's acting normally, aside from the full belly - if he gets lethargic, tries to unsuccessfully vomit or has any palpable pain in his abdomen, I'd think about going to the vet. I don't know if overeating is a common trigger for bloat, but you can't be too careful.
And consider this a lesson in properly storing your feed.
i'm more confident that he way over ate. of course he defecated in the hall way. then again this morning... then again a few hours later in the back yard. sheesh.
