I do clip nails, and I don't care if they like it or not. I bathe when absolutely necessary, and they never really stink. I do not use any special shampoo. I do not and will not brush a dog's teeth. I do not have any dog treats in my house. I hope my dogs don't read this thread. They will turn me in.

Danke, during our abnormally high pollen season early this summer got rinsed off (no washing) regularly. Beyond that, she's only had two actual baths since I've had her. Brush teeth? What's that? Isn't that one of the reasons I'm feeding raw? I guess we'll be locked up together, Jenni.

I mostly just deal with the shedding, but she 'blows' her coat a couple of times a year. I also err on the side of caution (KISS), however, I would definitely get the pup used to having it's toes/feet touched, ears, tail, etc. You want to, ideally, be able to handle every part of the dog. I used an emery board on my dogs nails to get her used to the feeling.

Stiff brush for 3-4 times a week maintainence on both. Both GSDs are outside dogs and the shorthair has only had one bath a couple of yrs ago. The longhaire has yet to get a bath. With 3-4 times a week grooming I have no odor problems and both have nice shiny coats. My JRT gets his hair yanked out twice a yr and brushed twice weekly. Nails as needed on all three. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
