I just want to ask how to train a GSD to growl and show teeth on command. I have succeeded in getting it to bark relatively easily with food but are stumped on the growling thing. Any Ideas?

Zak,
I taught my PSD (police service dog) to do so, while we were doing defensive work. I picked a word that was NOT in my normal vocabulary and while working defensive work - I would repeat this 1 word command. After many times of repetition, the dog picked up on it. Then you need to train your dog to shut it down also. Just like flipping a light switch.
Zak,
I should have also included, I very rarely use this command for the simple fact - if you know you have a well-trained dog that will do it's job when it's suppose to, WHY have it growl. It's like cocking the hammer on a gun - if you are proficient, you don't to cock the hammer. I figure if my 80 lb hairball isn't intimidating enough, then a growl isn't going to help.
