Do dogs react the same way as humans do to too much saturated fat and not enough fiber in their diets?
For example, I have heard for humans that saturated fat (what meat tends to have a lot of) can gum up arteries and lead to heart disease. Too little fiber (which meat has zero of) can accelerate the aging of the gastrointestinal system.
Dogs use fat the way humans use carbs (for energy, distance-type events/exercise use their fat stores where for humans our carb stores would be used first).
So our systems definitely work differently. No idea if dogs process saturated/unsaturated fats differently in terms of energy though.
