Good luck Eric. You may find some of this resolves with IV fluids; I understand not wanting to go back to the vets; I feel like I've lived there the past month. I will say, IV fluid is a pretty simple procedure and results are often quick. Here's hoping you get some answers tomorrow....I'm sure this week feels like a year.
Just an update-
the night before we were supposed to go for subq fluids his poop firmed up and was good for the 12 hours before we were supposed to go. I called the vet and try said it sounds like he's over it so don't come in for the fluids just keep him hydrated.
He was great for about 4 days and I was feeding a rotation of necks and backs, ground turkey with bones and organs and tripe. Which he loved all of it. After about 4 days he took a big step back with no alterations in diet. And he didn't get better. I tried adding pumpkin and rice to the meals to no avail. I went back to the vet and they gave me clay, fenbenzadole, and a prebiotic.
We're back on cooked chick rice pump and yogurt with the meds thrown in. Going on day 4 with meds and stool still very loose. Not water consistency but not formed either. I'm thinking the meds should have taken effect by now.
I'm at my wits end here. The vet said get ready for a long haul. Gave another stool sample waiting on results. Vet also stated that when they have this much GI problems early on it isbusually a lifelong issue. The gentleman who I got him
from has been offering to take him back since this all started. I really don't know what to do at this point. I'm in over $300 at the vet in the first two and a half weeks(breeder said he would cover it) With no light at the end of the tunnel. I'm feeling very tired and frustrated.

"GI problems"? This is giardia, right? So the vet is saying that this dog seems prone to the re-activation of cysts in the intestine, causing another giardiasis re-outbreak? Or that giardia is no longer the diagnosis?
Just making sure I caught everything.
I understand the frustration and fatigue (for both of you).
