About a year ago, last June, I posted asking for tips on how to get my puppy, Cleo, more comfortable in the pool. You guys gave great responses. I used the techniques you all offered and learned quite a bit. In fact, I have even discovered some new ones I used with Cleo and have shared what I have learned with others here on the forum.
Well, Cleo isn't quite as shy about going in the pool now. Thought some of you might like to see the fruit of your advice. Here's a video link (hope it works) updating her progress:
Thanks for the runner suggestion! I had the same thought; I just started Cleo on the run/dive thing. I saw a dog competition show on ESPN with dogs diving into a tank and thought she'd be good at it.
Didn't see the Dock Diving videos, just slide shows of dogs. Am I missing something?
On the runner, make sure it has a non-slip bottom. We nail the runner to the dock - I didn't think of that until later, might not work on that beautiful deck ..........sigh...........I miss warmth.
If it's textured enough might be fine. I think just monitor the number of jumps to avoid over exertion on the joints. Swimming is a great conditioning exercise.
