Just wondering if anyone has read this book and if it helped them with their reactive, distracted or aggressive dog. I like that the methods seem positive but wanted to know of people's actual experience before purchasing it.
I have it, I like it! I have a dog reactive dog and the book showed me some coping behaviors I could teach him and they have really helped. It's all positive reinforcement training and much of it is done with a clicker.
My dog is still a bit reactive, but he's learning how to handle the stress of other dogs around him. Now instead of loosing his mind and reacting, he can offer default behaviors, and is grasping the concept that he just doesn't need worry about the other dog.
It's not a "magic bullet" program but it sure has some great ideas to work with reactive/distracted dogs.
There is a 4-disc DVD set that goes with the book. "Control Unleashed: a foundation seminar".
I have just bought it and not watched it yet so cannot comment on it. I am a dog training DVD addict!!! It's kind of like potato chips....I can't have just one!
I have this book and like it a lot. She provides a whole, progressive program for teaching self control kinds of exercises and behaviors. I use a lot of these exercises with some of my students, and also, I plan on using it for my next puppy.
As another poster said, no magic bullet...but those don't exist, do they?
