If OFA did not reject the radiographs then the positioning was good enough for them. PennHip will give you more precise ratings, but unfortunately if you can see laxity in a hip joint under OFA (extended view) then PennHip will actually show more laxity with their 2 other views. Laxity is what PennHip is better at detecting. I have a dog who OFA (prelim) Good, but yet did not do well at PennHip. If you research it more you will find out why. But it will never work the other way around. A dog that does not OFA will not do well PennHip.
I also agree with what the others have said. A great pedigree is only a drop in the bucket when it comes to breeding. Hips and Elbows are more drops, but it takes a full bucket to make a dog worthy of being bred.
Thanks Lee that was quite helpful. I have been reading and could not understand why I was being asked by the breeder to do this because as I understand it Penn Hip is many different views and manipulations to show the subluxation in the hips and is more extensive than OFA which I agree should only show the same or worse. I have been contemplating spaying her and placing her in a pet home being honest with the new owner about her condition. Several vets have stated she could live without any complications for many years if not worked. I just wanted more answers and opinions. Thanks again!
