The original OP's question was of her dog protecting her in the face of a human aggressive act & had nothing to do with dogs protecting owners in OTHER ways. Maybe you should re-read the original post...on second thought, why not just consider this thread closed it has been dragged ever which way already & there really is nothing further to add to it. JMO

Everyone Thank you so much. I have learned alot and a bit about you all too So in a nut shell my dog probably won't protect me ( w/out training) but would/could be a good deterent.I will continue to lie or ignore the question when asked his name, I will stay in well lit areas as much as possible when walking alone at night and at the very least train my dog to bark on command. Sound right? I was secretly hoping you all would tell me that he would rip the snot out of anyone messing with his family, but rather I appreciate your honesty. Let me know if anyone knows of any good trainer in Southeast MI.
