Been awhile since I have been able to train with my dogs and even post on the site
My question is that I had my male using the ecollar and everything was going great and than we had a 6 month gap in the ecollar training due to a change in jobs and not having the time I wanted to work with him. We still did some training but no ecollar work.
Should I start over again (putting it on 3-4 times daily etc..) or do you think he would pick it back up?
Hi Chris;
I would start all over, even going back to foundation training, hopefully you did motivational training with him and reintroduce the collar back in. When the dog is in the teaching phase, or a different level of distraction, I always set the dog up for success by going back to something that he knows. He should progress very quickly (if he had an open mind to learning in the first place)If you are in doubt, I would get the Michael Ellis tapes on marker training using food and how to play with the tug.
You and your dog will LOVE it and then introduce the collar all while using markers. FUN FUN FUN
Happy Training,
Roni

Thanks for the reply Roni!
Thats what I was thinking but not 100% positive I had to. He gets crazy when I take the collar out so I have that part down, he is ready to learn its even a pain to get it on him b/c he is all over the place knowing he is about to train.
I will start with the basics and progress from there. He is extremely smart so it should go fast. I want to get the Ellis vids but still need to finish all my LB vids first.
I would get the new videos, you will love them and it will help you now!
Happy Training,
Roni

I would also feed and introduce collar so you don't get a bumped nose, lolololo.
