My senior gal, Dallas (Orfey x Sausha), goes along with the use it up, wear it out thing. She got her CGC at 15. Last October, she turned 16 and has since turned me into her doggy concierge. She woofs and I come.
Dallas was a pistol in her younger days. Her brother, Condor, went to the WUSV in 1999. She was a part of Leerburg's foster program. Dallas still has a rowdy streak in her a mile wide. Now, she just mostly likes resting in my lap.
What a nice looking lady she is. I love both of those pics. Who is the OTHER lady in the pic, your 'bride'?
Mine is definatly still a rebel rouser at 6. She acts 1. She is a VERY driven girl. She is an Otis grandaughter & has her hard daddy's temperment. She is like flipping a switch. She light up in less than a heartbeat. Thank god she has an off switch, too. LOL
Well, I don't have shepherds, but I can comment in regards to med to high drive working-type dogs, I prefer the female personality.
For me, and what I've observed, the females seem more apt to think about things in training (my little female is a much less contextual learner than my males as well - I haven't a clue why), while the males sometimes rush head on, and seem like they don't have a brain in their head.
The females also seem, after initial obedience training, less likely to challenge for leadership roles. Where as I can't let my guard down with the males.
Of course, not all are like this, and this is very much a generalization, but just some things I've observed over the years. If I had my choice for any sport, it would always be female, hands down. Though I have friends that would argue this with me.
