In previous topics, I've been advised to get my 9-week pup on a schedule. Buckley's been with us now for 6.5 days, and I'm beginning to see his cycles: Sleep, get up, play (& "train" in the form of rewarding pup for following me & looking at me, marking the word "yes.") then eat, and finally outside to eliminate.
Should I wake a puppy? Mine has been sleeping for close to three hours - I've been trying to feed him around noon - but it's close to 2pm here. My inclination is to "let sleeping dogs lie" then play hardily this afternoon and his "lunch" could be delivered in the form of food rewards.
I think I would go with your plan and let him sleep and then do lunch in the form of rewards when he wakes up.
Plus in a few weeks you might be very happy when he is sleeping, it will mean you can get some stuff done without any distraction or "help" from your pup
...and I'm beginning to see his cycles: Sleep, get up, play (& "train" in the form of rewarding pup for following me & looking at me, marking the word "yes.") then eat, and finally outside to eliminate.
Bev, I'm guessing it's just a typo, but you have "sleep, get up, play..." but I don't see any go outside before the play part. You do have go out at the end...which is great. Before and after everything, even a chewing session (makes them want to pee for some reason).
