Don't feed your fish starting today. Your greatest danger with fish if you lose power is probably ammonia build up, more than lack of oxygen. If you don't feed them, there will be less ammonia. I have found that tropical fish can withstand quite a long power outage if you just don't disturb them. You can put a blanket over the tank to delay heat loss. Well, good luck!
There are battery operated aerators available at pets stores which are great in a pinch.
My 5Kw generator has been the best investment in storm preparedness I ever made. I start it up once a month and keep and extra five gallons of gas. If things are still crappy I got siphon hoses to extract gas from the vans....or the dead frozen neighbor's car, they ain't gonna need it anymore

I have three in that tank, and did not feed after the water change. Temperature is the thing I was most concerned about as they are all southeast asian tropical fish and cannot tolerate cold temps for extended periods.
We do need a generator, It is something we keep saying we need and then not buying LOL.

Tropical fish believe it or not are pretty tough. Its saltwater that you have to say a little prayer over any time the power hiccups. Depending on the tank size it should hold it's temp fairly well so long as it's not a really extended outtage.
The last ice storm was 14 days without power, they would have been floating long before 14 days so I was fearing the worst this time!
They have been through several short outages and done just fine, but I do massive water changes every week, have live plants and a lightly stocked tank.
I stocked up on bottled water today, it was on sale since the store ordered enough for a global meltdown and everything turned out fine
