I had 3 deer processed this year especially for the dogs- and 1 deer for ourselves. The problem I'm having is that one of the boxes of meat didn't get labeled and I'm not sure if it is pure ground venison, or ground venison mixed with pork. If there's pork in it, its not a lot. They just mix it because the venison by itself is so lean.
Is it a big deal if the dogs get a little ground pork? Or should I just throw it in the "people food" freezer and be done with it? I think I read that pork isn't preferred for dogs... And I don't remember why...
Awesome! I'll throw the maybe-pork/venison mix in the dog's freezer without another thought! Thanks everyone for the input- problem solved!
I just scored 40 pounds of chicken backs today for about 20 bucks so I was up to my elbows in the freezer, trying to jam everything in there and had to do some major reorganizing. I had meat hitting me in the head while I used every free appendage to hold it all in there so I could get the door closed! Wonder how long all of this will last... These animals are bottomless pits!
