I should add that it took about an hour to write. The original manuscript has about a dozen paw prints on it, a couple of drool streaks, a number of suspicious looking puncture holes... and I have not seen the pen I used since that night.
Actually I have 2 Mals... Toni and Caterina. AND a working line GSD. Just the fact that I was able to sit for a whole hour and observe them was a miracle Any time I sit, I usually have Caterina trying her best to get into my lap, Toni shoving a toy in my face, and Drift barking at them both.
I was actuallly bored that night because they just kind of entertained themselves. Nobody was bothering me to go out or to play... it was a very unusual night... All hell broke loose when they had discovered what they had done (left me ALONE for such a long stretch of time).
Being able to just observe them was really cool. They were "busy" but not obnoxious. Paul gets to watch them all the time because they are normally pestering me, but it's not an opportunity I really have very often.
Caterina has now nosed me 6 times to tell me that it's time to go outside to play (the door is open and Paul is outside, she just wants ME out there too). Since it's gorgeous out, I think I will take her up on her invitation
Wow...you have lots of lively entertainment! I love my daughter's Mals, and I could relate to your story because when her husband is traveling, the dogs aren't working,so they are entertaining her... She must love it because she wants a Dutch Shepherd!
A beautiful day here also, just finished throwing the flying squirrel for my 5 month old pup, his favorite, however, tonight after the 20th throw, he quickly veered to the right, dropped it in the toy bucket, and delivered the entire bucket at my feet, sat, and looked for his reward. I wasn't sure if/how I should mark that..It's all about food with him, so I am sure he wanted all that was in the pouch!

This is so way off topic, so I apologize for the hijack. But I had to say that I hope you at least praised the heck out of him for that. Hopefully he will do it again so that next time you can mark it. What a cute trick!
He did get lots of praise and I did mark it, after all he did bring the squirrel back! I was amused when he just put the squirrel back in the bucket, expecting him to return, or run off with a toy of his choice. The bucket is somewhat heavy and awkward, so he needed to lift it up{ he didn't drag} walk with it, the bucket is wider than his front legs so he walked more from the side, but he came right to me with it , sat , and looked up.
Like Kelly with her Mals, I like my dogs to know I am in charge, obedient, but not so finely tuned that they can't have fun!
